Monday of Getting Things Done

Today my internet was out most of the day, so I spent time being productive. Er, mostly. I played a lot of video games, for one thing. Tales of Phantasia, a bit of my old beloved Tales of the Abyss, some Dragon Quest IV until I was soundly defeated in a regular battle (I think this will become a pattern in that game…), and some GTA Vice City on my PC. Wow. That makes it sound like I didn’t do anything productive.

However, I also bought groceries, cleaned the apartment, cleaned the guinea pig cage, roasted a chicken, made a delicious sauce for the chicken, and made cookies. My friend got me a book of chocolate recipes for my birthday (Chocolate Galore by Caroline Barty) and I made two of them today: roasted chicken with bitter chocolate gravy (I know it sounds weird, but it’s not chocolatey per se… it’s quite tasty) and chocolate rebel cookies. What an awesome recipe book! I want to make everything in it.

I also learned at the grocery store that I’m getting really good at talking myself out of buying things. I wanted to get a frozen meal for lunch today, but I talked myself out of it, reasoning that I had good leftovers for lunch today. Even when I do really need or want something, I can usually reassure myself that I can get it another day, so I wait.

I do need to get more veggies next week. I hate that I can’t make it to my local farmers’ market because it’s the same night as class. But class lasts only a few more weeks. I want to work more greens into my diet cause they’re really good for you. Hopefully the nice farmer lady will have asparagus at her stand soon!
